While i was researching the Native American Indians i found out that they used beetroot to create the red colour for face paint/war paint so i thought i would give it a try (even though i cannot stand beetroot)
While i was testing it out on my hand i also tested it out on paper and with it being very runny i decided to use a hair dyer to create some lovely movement on the paper
I found that the beetroot was quite light more like a stain on the skin so i added some vaseline and red pigment.
I then decided to play around with the texture of the vaseline
I found that the vaseline created a lot of texture so i decided to try other colours and see what it would look like on my face,
I don't really like the overall look as a whole,i feel its a little too much but i do love certain aspects of it like the texture and pattern on the cheek, i love that you can just draw onto the vaseline to create designs, if i was going to use this sort of technique though don't think i would use vaseline as it is quite sheer on the skin, i might try this again with lipstick as i like the texture.
After i had finished this i decided to use the hair dryer again on the piece of paper i used to mix the vaseline and pigments so that the colours would merge, i then drew a pattern over the top.
